WWE Not Pushing 5-Time Champion Would Be A “Dumb” Move, Says AJ Styles

The WWE Hall of Famer, AJ Styles declared that WWE would be “dumb” if they didn’t push a super popular star. The 5-time champion in discussion is none other than Chad Gable.

Chad Gable has been in the WWE since 2014, and he has been a former four-time tag team champion during his tenure, including one NXT tag title and former Speed Champion as well. Last year, Chad adapted to the popular gimmick of a Luchador named ‘El Grande Americano.’ He gained so much popularity with his new gimmick, but when he got injured, Ludwig Kaiser took over his gimmick.

Chad Gable later returned as the Original El Grande Americano to feud with the new Americano. The rivalry culminated in an epic mask vs mask encounter on Lucha Libre AAA recently. At the end of an incredible match, the Original Americano suffered a defeat and had to unmask himself to reveal his original persona.

Meanwhile, fans are demanding a major push for Gable after his incredible mask vs mask match on AAA recently. AJ Styles has given his two cents on the situation as well.

WWE will be “dumb” if they don’t push ex-tag team champion, according to AJ Styles

Speaking on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles said that not pushing the ex-tag team champion, Chad Gable would be dumb on WWE’s part:

I think he’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. If we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies.”

AJ Styles further added that Chad Gable could be a heavyweight champion because he is a legit pro wrestler:

He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit freaking pro wrestler that there’s no way somebody in the crowd is going, ‘I think I can take freaking Chad Cable.’ Dude, legit, he will drop you on your head and there’s nothing you can do about it. He will scoop you up and drop you. This guy is legit. Everything about him, his look, ability, everything about him is a scary if you know anything about collegiate wrestling or pro wrestling. This guy can take care of business. Yeah no, he’s legit.” [H/T Fightful]

Throughout his WWE run for over a decade, Chad Gable has yet to win a major singles title. It remains to be seen if the WWE will listen to fans and give Gable a major push going forward.
