CM Punk’s last appearance on WWE TV took place on the Raw after WrestleMania 42 episode.

Earlier, it was revealed that Punk’s absence from WWE was due to a scheduling and creative change after WWE moved Gunther to SmackDown and Jacob Fatu to Raw for Roman Reigns’ feud.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided more updates regarding CM Punk’s absence from WWE.

During a Fightful Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that Punk was planned for shows following WrestleMania, but WWE suddenly removed him from those shows. He was surprised that WWE even pulled him from the European tour, despite the fact that he is a big draw.

Sapp added that he hasn’t heard if CM Punk is dealing with any injury, but speculated that the former World Heavyweight Champion might be dealing with “some nagging injuries.”

Where the heck is CM Punk? Well, he was planned for shows following WrestleMania, and then all of a sudden, he just wasn’t. Now it’s very surprising for me to not see him on the European tour because he’s a big draw. I haven’t heard of an injury of any sort. That doesn’t mean that one can’t exist.

Usually by now, where we’re going into, was it two months without CM Punk? It’s something that we would have heard about, or word would have made its way through WWE if so. But as things stand, he’s not been around for a while.

I would assume, one, probably healing up some nagging injuries. Two, probably has, you know, a limited number of dates on his contract.

New Details Emerge Regarding CM Punk’s Absence From WWE TV

Sapp added that another reason why CM Punk could be absent from WWE TV is the limited number of dates in his contract. Punk wrestled 38 matches last year, and this year he had already wrestled 11 matches through February. So WWE could’ve given him a brief hiatus to space out his scheduled dates for this year.

Sapp noted that WWE could bring him back in mid-June or July.

So he was healthy all of last year, and he wrestled 38 matches. Right? They got through February and he already had 11 matches. So that’s roughly a third of the matches in just under two months. So you space that out. He doesn’t wrestle at all in March. He wrestles once in April, none in May, hasn’t wrestled in June.

All of a sudden it’s less daunting to kind of fit those dates in. So you bring him back in mid-late June, whenever it is, or even July, and you’ve still got two dozen matches that he can do over the last six-ish months of the year.
