Why CM Punk Was Removed From Upcoming WWE Events
The latest report opened up on the reason why CM Punk has been pulled from upcoming dates of WWE events.
CM Punk had an amazing run as the World Heavyweight Champion for months, which culminated in him main eventing Night 2 of WrestleMania 42. At the Show of Shows, Punk defended his World title against Roman Reigns. The classic match ended with Roman securing the win and capturing the World Heavyweight title from Punk.
After losing the World Heavyweight title, CM Punk appeared on the RAW after Mania and shared a segment with the WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes as well. The Second City Saint has been on a hiatus ever since and has been pulled from upcoming events in June as well. Punk’s next appearance is scheduled to be on July 6 RAW from his hometown of Chicago.
The latest report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on why Punk is not advertised for the WWE events in June. Dave Meltzer noted in the Newsletter that Punk has been removed from the European tour and other RAW episodes in June due to a schedule change and nothing else:
CM Punk has been removed from the advertising from the European tour and several other Raw dates in June. We were told there is nothing more to this than a schedule change,” Meltzer wrote.

CM Punk was reportedly supposed to retain his World title at WrestleMania 42
While Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42, there were different plans as reported by Dave Meltzer. Meltzer reported that there were talks of Punk beating Roman at Mania before eventually losing the title to him at Backlash 2026, which would’ve protected Punk’s position. However, it was eventually decided that Reigns would win at Mania:
It was possible and apparently talked about that Punk could beat Reigns and then lose the title at Backlash, so they’d be ‘even’ when it was over but Reigns would end up as champion, as a way to protect Punk’s position. But the decision in the end was for Reigns to win here,” Meltzer noted.
Dave Meltzer also awarded the WrestleMania 42 Night 2 main event match between Roman Reigns and CM Punk a five-star match. Since winning the World title, Roman has been feuding with Jacob Fatu. It remains to be seen if Punk will be back to challenge for the title.
