“I Will Become Just Like Cody” – Ex-Champion Confirms Immediate AEW Future
MJF survived a scare on this week’s AEW Dynamite. Well, The Devil has an even bigger challenge in seven days.
The latest edition of the Wednesday night show saw MJF put his AEW World Championship on the line against Mark Briscoe. Briscoe earned the opportunity after his team defeated MJF’s team in a 12-man Death’s Door match at Forbidden Door 2026.
Both stars had a back-and-forth encounter, but in the end, MJF spiked Mark Briscoe with the Heat Seeker to get the three-count. Post-match, the AEW World Champion attacked Briscoe before Kenny Omega made the save.
The Cleaner challenged MJF for the gold, however, he refused. MJF stated that he would face Kenny Omega in a title match next match under one condition – if Omega loses, then he can never wrestle for the AEW World Title again.
Kenny Omega confirms his next AEW move
Later on in the night, Kenny Omega came out to the ring and cut a passionate promo. He brought up the possibility of facing a similar fate as Cody Rhodes and Hangman Page if he fails to win next week.
The Cleaner then hyped himself up before accepting MJF’s stipulation.
And all I have to do is put it all on the line against you, Max. If I fail, I will become just like Cody. I will become just like Hangman. I will become just another man who can never challenge for that belt again. And the question is, is the cost simply too high? And the answer is no. You want me to put it all on the line, Max? If I lose this time around, you’ll never see me in another title match again! And boy wouldn’t that make you happy. Well, Max, there’s one possibility I don’t think you’ve even considered. And it’s that, yes, I am still that person that people call the Best Bout Machine. I’m still that person that people call The Cleaner. I’m still to some out there, the God of Professional Wrestling.
And I can’t lie, Max. To have one more chance to beat the brakes off you while I’m still healthy? Ooooh, it just gets the blood flowing, don’t it? So Max, am I going to accept your offer? THE ANSWER IS YES! So next week, Max, bring the BBB, bring yourself, and get ready to pass over what has rightfully been mine since the last time we wrestled, because this time I’m coming prepared, and I don’t know if you are for what I have in store for you. With the AEW World Title bout officially confirmed for Beach Break next week, MJF decided to weaken Kenny Omega with a cheap attack from behind. He looked to hit Omega with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but The Best Bout Machine took him down.
Security officials rushed out to the ring to separate the two stars as the show ended on a massive cliffhanger. Can Kenny Omega dethrone MJF? Only time will tell.
