John Cena Acknowledges Top AEW Star Following All Out Tribute

John Cena WWE cant see me

A recent tip of the hat from John Cena didn’t go unnoticed.

Since dropping his heel character on the eve of SummerSlam, John Cena has reverted to a more crowd-pleasing run towards retirement. This has seen him lean much more into ‘playing the hits’ and paying tribute to his most famous rivals.

This saw Cena use CM Punk’s GTS, Kurt Angle’s Ankle Lock, and a Spear in tribute to Edge during a match with Sami Zayn on SmackDown.

Fast forward to AEW All Out, and Adam Copeland, the former Edge, sent his own tribute back to Cena. During his match alongside Christian Cage against FTR, Copeland landed Cena’s Spinning Back Suplex, Five Knuckle Shuffle — complete with “You can’t see me” hand gesture, and an Attitude Adjustment.

Although the moment wasn’t acknowledged on commentary, the crowd chanted for the WWE legend.

In a new post on social media, Cena has again highlighted Copeland, sharing a photo from their TLC Match at Unforgiven in 2006. The pair had their final match on Raw in 2010, with Cena picking up the win.

John Cena Had Littel To Celebrate At Wrestlepalooza

Back in WWE, John Cena had little to celebrate after being demolished by Brock Lesnar in the opening match of the night.

Despite riding a wave of fan support as he nears retirement, Cena was destroyed by Lesnar in a little over eight minutes. Lesnar took victory after delivering six F-5s to leave Cena broken in the middle of the ring.

After the bell, Lesnar returned to the ring and hit the referee with an F-5 before doing the same to Cena before heading backstage.
