A former WWE name recalled how he almost lost his life once in a hotel room. The star in question is none other than Fandango (aka JDC).

Fandango is known for his time in the WWE, where he arrived in 2008. He gained prominence by defeating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 in 2013. The 42-year-old also had an entertaining tag team run alongside Tyler Breeze in ‘Breezango’ for years. However, he was released by the Stamford-based promotion in 2021.

He later joined TNA and announced his retirement from pro wrestling after his last match at the Genesis event earlier this year. Meanwhile, Fandango opened up about the struggles he faced during his time in the WWE.

The recent episode of TNA’s mini-documentary series, ‘Immersed’ focused on the career of the former WWE star, Fandango (aka JDC), following his retirement earlier this year. During the episode, Fandango recalled how he missed some shows during his time in the Stamford-based promotion back in 2019 due to personal struggles and regretted not getting into rehab treatment:

There’s times when I started missing shows in WWE, because I was out partying all night. I should have checked into treatment then. But it was January of 2019, I was actually supposed to fly back to TV. I’d been out of the ring for about a year with a labrum surgery, and I had a ticket to go to Oklahoma City for Raw on Sunday, and I decided to go down to Tampa and party on like a Wednesday or Thursday. Like I just talked about, self-sabotaging,” Fandango stated.

Fandango also recalled how he had a near-de*th experience in his hotel room once before he made the call to WWE and later went for a 60-day treatment, which he declared the best decision of his life:

I didn’t wanna go back to TV and fail, or maybe I thought I would so, I decided to party for three, four days straight and then, I almost d*ed in a hotel room, and made a call to Mark Carrano and WWE and said I was ready, and that was like the best night’s sleep I ever had — that night. I went into treatment for 60 days and it was the best 60 days of my life. Best decision I ever made, besides marrying my wife.” [h/t Fightful]

Fandango (fka JDC) has retired from in-ring competition after his last match at TNA Genesis in January this year, where he was defeated by Eddie Edwards.
