WWE Scrapped Ex-Universal Champion’s “Intriguing Idea”
Scrapped plans for a former WWE Universal Champion have come to light.
Bray Wyatt got his start in WWE under the ring name Husky Harris. However, his initial run in WWE didn’t go as planned, and he was moved back down to FCW, where he rebranded himself as Bray Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt made his WWE debut in 2012 along with the Wyatt Family. He was instantly able to get over with the fans. Over the years, Bray Wyatt would undergo several transformations to his character. Perhaps the most significant transition was when he became The Fiend. His entrance as The Fiend was one of the most chilling entrances in WWE history. As brilliant as Bray was, he never got to fully reach his potential as he passed away in 2023. The world still mourns his passing to this day.
WWE commentator Michael Cole reveals scrapped plans for Bray Wyatt
Speaking on The Sal Licata Show, Michael Cole revealed that he and Bray Wyatt worked on a series of sit-down interviews for years. He said that these interviews would resemble the Charles Manson interviews in prison. Cole and Bray even mapped it out, and the concept was ready to go, but it didn’t end up happening. Cole believes that these sit-down interviews would’ve helped bring out a more sick, sadistic side of the Bray Wyatt character.
“One of the stories Bray and I had worked on for a number of years… I’m trying to do a sit-down interview where it would be like Michael Cole interviewing Charles Manson in prison.
If you ever go back and watch the videotapes of the interviews that were done with Manson in prison, it was an intriguing idea by Bray. We had even mapped it out, and the concept was ready to go, and for some reason it never happened.
But I thought that would have really—especially if it was a multiple-part interview series—I think it would have really helped Bray bring out that character more, and we could see that sick, sadistic side of that Bray Wyatt character.” [H/T Ringside News]
It’s so unfortunate that this sit-down interview storyline will never see the light of day. However, it would be interesting if WWE tries this out with a different wrestler in the future.
