WWE Veteran On Infamous Michael Cole Segment: “It’ll Always Be Disturbing”
A former WWE star has commented on his segment with Michael Cole.
Heidenreich wrestled for the WWE for a couple of years during the mid-2000s. He was pushed initially and even started feuding with The Undertaker early on his run. These stars would compete in three televised singles matches, all of which would be won by Taker. This feud would come to define his run in the sports entertainment juggernaut.
However, Heidenreich would be remembered in another infamous segment with Michael Cole that is still remembered to this day, even though WWE has never mentioned it on TV. On September 16, 2004, episode of SmackDown, Heidenreich abducted Michael Cole from the announcer’s desk and took him to a room backstage. The former WWE star thrust into Cole multiple times before he handed him a poem. This was one of the most controversial segments in SmackDown history.
Heidenreich revealed his true feelings about his segment with Michael Cole
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Heidenreich revealed that the segment will always be disturbing. He also thought it was off the wall when it was brought to him. The former WWE star said that the dialogue in the segment may sound like an innuendo, but it made him infamous.
“It’ll always be disturbing, there’s no doubt about it. I mean, it was brought to me, I don’t remember particulars, but I do remember thinking, man, this is really off the wall. When you’re training to do vignettes and practicing in Louisville, you don’t practice for a vignette like that. Well, they said I was gonna abduct him, and bring him to the back, and then put him in a room. Then I think it was like you’re gonna act like you were like watching him, and you’re going one place with it. It’s like you’re going like it, and then you say, I’m gonna give you a poem. But it sounds like I’m gonna give him something other than a poem. I don’t know if it’s innuendos and stuff when you say it, ‘I’ve been watching you, I know what you want, and I’m gonna give it to you.’ But I look back and all the things that have been said about all these years, it’s kind of made me infamous, more than famous. But it’s disturbing still, and it’s weird.”
Heidenreich further added that Michael Cole was down for doing the segment and gave it his best, even though it was disturbing. The former WWE star also revealed that he could never come up with a segment like that on his own.
“I guess he was kind of like, this is weird, and joking around. But he wasn’t like I didn’t like it, off-put or not wanting to do it. I mean, I could tell he was down for whatever. It’s like we’re working together, right? It’s a scene, and we’re building a story. He was whimpering. I mean, even though it was disturbing and weird and bizarre, I would have never come up with that on my own. I think it helped [my memory]. That thing made me more memorable. People will never forget that.” [H/T Features of Wrestling]\
This segment won’t be played on WWE TV any time soon.
