Details Revealed On Kazuchika Okada’s Role In AEW

The Elite AEW kazuchika okada aew young bucks

Kazuchika Okada was brought into AEW as a heel who is aligned with The Young Bucks and it was the plan all along.

The All Elite Wrestling official debut of Kazuchika Okada took place on the March 6th edition of AEW Dynamite.

It happened when The Young Bucks were in the ring dealing with the Continental Crown Champion Eddie Kingston. That’s when the “Rainmaker” Okada made his debut officially and it looked like he might side with Kingston, but instead, Okada nailed Kingston with a clothesline. Okada also made the belt motion toward Kingston to suggest that he was coming after the Continental Crown Championship that Kingston has.

During that same promo involving The Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, they also “fired” Kenny Omega from The Elite group. Meanwhile, “Hangman” Adam Page is currently off television, so that means The Elite is the trio of the Jackson brothers and Okada.

According to Fightful Select, All Elite Wrestling is very happy with Okada in the heel role with The Young Bucks. They noted that the decision to make Okada a heel was done well ahead of his signing and the company made it clear that they wanted to put him with The Young Bucks.

It was added by Fightful that Tony Khan had the idea going back to the holiday season in December when Omega was sidelined due to diverticulitis, which is what led to the heel Bucks “firing” him from The Elite group.

The belief among people in AEW and Khan himself is that Okada can be a major heel star on American wrestling TV. The performances that Okada had on Dynamite and Collision reassured AEW officials that it was the right move as well while mentioning that they liked Okada’s facial expressions.

There was also apparently a positive response to the AEW Collision segments involving The Elite as well as backstage interviews and segments. The feeling among AEW officials is that was important to debut Okada on the first show right after Sting retired days earlier, so that gives AEW another big star in the company.

Kazuchika Okada And The Young Bucks Teaming Up On AEW Dynamite

While Kazuchika Okada has wrestled on AEW Dynamite, he was not officially an AEW contracted wrestler at that point. This coming Wednesday, March 13th at AEW Dynamite “Big Business” there will be a trios match with Okada and The Young Bucks teaming up against Eddie Kingston, Penta and Pac in what will be one of the huge matches on the show.

That AEW Dynamite “Big Business” episode is also expected to be the AEW debut of Mercedes Mone as well.
