Drew McIntyre has shared an update amid his months-long WWE absence.

The Scottish Psychopath was last seen during Night 1 of WrestleMania 42, where he competed in an Unsanctioned Match against Jacob Fatu. Despite taking an aggressive approach, McIntyre fell to The Samoan Werewolf’s Mighty Moonsault.

With Drew absent from live SmackDown tapings, it was reported that he had been filming his scenes for the reboot of fantasy action film Highlander, where he plays Angus MacLeod, the brother of Henry Cavill’s character, Connor MacLeod.

After filming his scenes, a video on TikTok showed Drew McIntyre working out in the gym, which sparked rumors about his WWE return.

However, his agent Nick LoPiccolo shut down the claims via a tweet, claiming that the 41-year-old was home only for a short period and that he was still filming his scenes for another movie titled The Last Druid, which features Russell Crowe.

Drew is still filming his movie The Last Druid. He came home for a weekend but he is already back to filming.

In an earlier tweet, LoPiccolo shared that WWE was supportive of Drew McIntyre’s work in Hollywood while also assuring fans that he was a wrestler first.

You didn’t even know when Drew was filming Highlander or the secret event movie until now. Drew is a wrestler first. We respect what WWE wants and where they need him. This new movie is the exception, and they were incredibly gracious. I work around their schedule by default.

Drew McIntyre Connects With Fans Via Set Photo

Despite portraying a heel character in WWE, Drew McIntyre is usually generous when it comes to his fans.

Apart from sharing memes and witty captions, the Scotsman connects with his fans occasionally, providing them with updates on projects outside wrestling.

Recently, he shared a photo of himself from the set of The Last Druid, showing him in rugged attire. His caption, “Cinema,” highlights the cinematic quality of his picture captured in a sunny field while filming.

Drew McIntyre did not naturally pursue a Hollywood career, but he is also not someone to let a lucrative opportunity pass by.

Amid his WWE absence, questions have been raised about his future with the company, also considering he is 41 years old.

After acting in his debut film, The Killer’s Game, McIntyre spoke at an interview with ClutchPoints about hoping to be able to find a balance between movies and his wrestling career.

I’m still younger than people think…and I’ve got years of wrestling left in me. But at the same time, I’ve got a little free time. And I want to use that free time to pursue outside projects and hopefully be the first WWE wrestler that’s able to balance the WWE schedule with a movie and TV schedule.
