Dax Harwood has shared that he believes he’ll retire as a pro wrestler within the next three to five years.

The tag team known as FTR consists of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. They currently hold the Tag Team Titles in Ring of Honor, New Japan (IWGP Tag Team Titles) and the AAA promotion in Mexico. They are also under contract to AEW as former Tag Team Champions there as well.

While FTR has won a lot of championships in pro wrestling, a big reason why they have become a top babyface team in AEW is that they earned the respect of fans due to the quality of their matches. Earlier this year, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer rated FTR’s matches against The Briscoes five stars. Those matches took place at Supercard of Honor XV and Death Before Dishonor.

Harwood has had an outstanding 2022 not just in tag team matches, but as a singles wrestler as well. Harwood has had memorable matches against some of AEW’s top singles wrestlers like CM Punk, Adam Cole and he recently challenged Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Title on Rampage as well.

When a fan asked on Twitter if Harwood had a retirement date set in mind, Harwood replied matter of factly.

“I will retire within the next 3-5 years.”

The 38-year-old Harwood has been wrestling for the past 18 years. He got his big break as part of The Revival in WWE. The team would go on to win the NXT Tag Team Titles twice, the Raw Tag Team Titles twice and the Raw Tag Team Titles once. It’s possible that FTR heads back to WWE some day whenever their AEW deals expire.

FTR signed with AEW in May 2020 and recently picked up a big win at the company’s Battle of the Belts IV event on October 7th.
