Maxxine Dupri Finally Explains WWE Relationship With Austin Theory
Maxxine Dupri has explained her WWE relationship with Austin Theory.
Maxxine Dupri joined The Alpha Academy a few years ago. However, she was still green in the ring and was under the guidance of Chad Gable at the time. After Chad Gable abandoned Alpha Academy, Maxxine Dupri had to learn to pick up the slack.
She did well for herself as the lovable babyface and even ended up winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. However, she has undergone a bit of an attitude change in recent weeks ever since she started hanging out with Austin Theory. Even Otis warned her about spending time with Theory, but she ignored his comments. This week on WWE RAW, Maxxine Dupri helped The Vision win back the World Tag Team Titles, thereby confirming that she was now part of the group.
Maxxine Dupri has finally chosen herself
While speaking to Complex Graps, Maxxine Dupri acknowledged the ups and downs she had faced in the past year, but she is finally choosing herself now.
“So much has changed, so much has happened in the past year, the past six months. I won my first title. I lost my first title. I lost a lot of opportunities. I wasn’t being given opportunities. I was continuing to be overlooked, but not by Austin, of course.
I think I just came to a point where at some point, you have to choose yourself, and I chose me, and I did what needed to be done.”
Maxxine made it clear that she wants to be with the very best. That’s why she is with Austin Theory.
“I mean, have you seen him? The answer’s pretty clear, and I wanna be with the best of the best.”
She further added that she is going to surround herself with the very best.
“You are the average of the five people you surround yourself with, and so I’m gonna surround myself with the best.”
Maxxine even addressed her split from Alpha Academy. She said that she’s been choosing them for years and it was finally time for her to choose herself.
“It just got to a point where I had to choose me. I’ve been choosing them for years, and that hasn’t gotten me anywhere.”
She even questioned Alpha Academy’s whereabouts when she was having a difficult time with Becky Lynch. She says Austin Theory is the only person who chose to be with her.
“Let’s not forget, all those times when Becky was getting disqualified and purposely doing things so that I couldn’t win the title, where were they? Were they ever ringside for me?
It’s not personal, it’s just about me choosing me, but no one has been choosing me. Literally no one, and Austin has chosen me, so I’m choosing him, and I’m choosing Maxxine.” [H/T Ringside News]
