The truth has been revealed about WWE’s plans to change The Judgment Day’s name.

The Judgment Day was originally formed by Edge and consisted of Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. The group was created after Edge turned heel for a short while during his second WWE run.

After Finn Balor was added to The Judgment Day, the group turned on Edge and betrayed him. This kick-started a long rivalry between Edge and Judgment Day. The group then added Dominik Mysterio to their ranks. Judgment Day ruled RAW for several years. However, the group underwent a massive change when Dominik Mysterio turned on Rhea Ripley while Finn Balor betrayed Damian Priest, thereby kicking them out of the faction. Judgment Day then went on to add Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, and Roxanne Perez to their ranks. The faction underwent another change recently when they turned on Finn Balor and kicked him out. Since then, Finn has moved to SmackDown and has been on a singles run. However, there was some speculation that Judgment Day’s name was close to being changed. Balor has now provided some clarification regarding this.

Finn Balor denied that The Judgment Day’s name was about to be changed

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Finn Balor was asked if Judgment Day’s name was about to be changed to Street Trash. The former Universal Champion replied in the negative, stating that the name Street Trash came from a program between Gunther and Dominik Mysterio where the Ring General used the name for the group. Balor said that while they tried to lean into it, the name didn’t catch on as it wasn’t very memorable.

“No, so that came from there being a program at Gunther, I think it was Gunther and Dom, and he referred to us all as street trash, and we said let’s just lean into it, we’re the Judgment Day, we’re street trash, and we kind of just leaned into it, but it didn’t really catch on, yeah. People remember, like Bullet Club and The Demon; they don’t remember like Street Trash. It’s not all like home runs.” [H/T Chrisvanvliet.com]

It’s hard to imagine Judgment Day being a dominant faction if their name was changed to Street Trash. Therefore, it’s probably a good thing the name didn’t catch on.
