Finn Balor’s greatest WWE achievement in 2016 sadly turned into a dreadful memory.

At SummerSlam in 2016, Balor faced Seth Rollins for the newly established WWE Universal Championship. He defeated The Visionary to become the inaugural Universal Champion.

However, Balor suffered a severe shoulder injury during the match when he took a running power bomb into the barricade from Seth Rollins. As a result, he had to relinquish his title just a day after winning it. He was forced to go on a six-month hiatus for his recovery.

It was a heartbreaking moment for Finn Balor as it was his first World Championship victory in WWE. He had spent years working hard to earn the title, only for his special moment to last a day.

Finn Balor Doesn’t Like To Dwell In The Past

Speaking on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Finn Balor said that he doesn’t like to look back at the moment. When Chris asked him why, Balor simply replied that he can’t change the past, so he chooses to focus on the future.

Chris: Have you watched back winning the Universal Championship?
Balor: No.

Chris: You’ve never watched that match!?
Balor: No, and you know what, I get tagged in tweets daily of that spot, and I’ll scroll away before I hit the wall. I don’t like seeing it.

Chris: You don’t like seeing it, because it brings back a memory?
Balor: It’s just like, why dwell on the past? You should be looking forward, you can’t change the past, it happened. So what?

Last month, Finn Balor was moved from RAW to SmackDown after he finished his business with The Judgment Day. The reason behind this move was to close his chapter with The Judgment Day and provide him with new storylines and opportunities on the blue brand.

Hopefully, down the line, he’ll get another shot at a World Championship, and we might get to see him win the gold.
