AJ Styles All But Confirms Top AEW Star Is Never Joining WWE

AJ Styles has commented on a top AEW star joining WWE.

Kenny Omega is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today. He first gained traction due to his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he was known as the Best Bout Machine due to his ability to deliver incredible matches.

During his time in NJPW, he was involved in an epic feud with Kazuchika Okada, which produced some of the best matches in the history of professional wrestling. After a successful run in NJPW, Kenny Omega helped launch AEW along with The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes. Omega currently serves as the EVP in the company as well as an onscreen talent. Given his incredible in-ring skills, fans have always wanted to see him in WWE. However, given where he is in his career as well as his current position in AEW, it seems unlikely that Omega will ever wrestle for WWE.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles questioned why Kenny Omega would want to join WWE when he is on the board at AEW. Styles also stated that he himself would never want to join AEW because he is happy working for WWE.

“Why? Why would you? He’s on the board when it comes to AEW. He’s put his heart and soul. It’s like me. Would we ever see AJ Styles in AEW? Why? I like the company that I work for, despite what everybody else thinks.” [H/T WrestlePurists on X]

AJ Styles recalled a botch during one of his matches which led to a title change

AJ Styles was the reigning United States Champion in 2017. He was set to defend his title against Kevin Owens at Battleground 2017. However, Owens won the match with a cradle pin attempt. It was reported at the time that Styles wasn’t supposed to lose that match.

During a recent edition of his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles confirmed that he was not supposed to lose that match. He thought his shoulders were up, but it wasn’t the case.

“Here’s something that people don’t know. When I lost that one to him, I wasn’t supposed to lose. My shoulder was supposed to be up. I thought it was, I was p*ssed. I came back like, ‘What the freak is going on?’ Vince was like, ‘Your shoulder wasn’t up.’ I was like, ‘1000% it was up.’ I’m mad, not because I lost, because why the freak did he count something that wasn’t a pin? He goes, ‘Show him, take him to the truck and show him.’ I go back and watch it, sure enough, my shoulder is down. So, I go to Vince, ‘You’re right, I was wrong. Sorry about that.’” [H/T Fightful]

At least Vince McMahon didn’t get mad over the botched finish.
