WWE Allegedly Held Talks About Stripping Top Star Of Their Title Amid Uncertain Future

There were reportedly talks within WWE regarding stripping the title off a top star. The star in question is the current Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley.

At WrestleMania 42, Rhea Ripley defeated Jade Cargill to capture the WWE Women’s Championship. Ripley successfully retained her title in a rematch against Jade at Clash in Italy as well. She last competed in a six-woman tag match last month, where she teamed with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton to defeat Fatal Influence.

It was announced last month that Rhea Ripley has suffered a knee injury. The WWE Women’s Champion has been out of action due to injury for weeks now. Amid her absence, a new report has provided an update on Ripley’s ongoing title reign.

According to an exclusive report by Sportskeeda Wrestling, there were talks within the WWE regarding taking the Women’s title off Rhea Ripley, but the creative team decided against it:

There was talk of taking the title off Rhea Ripley. The injury was restrictive enough that someone suggested it. To strip Rhea Ripley of the title. But they decided against it.”

The report also stated that the title won’t be taken off Rhea Ripley unless her injury gets worse, while alternate plans are also being made in case of emergency:

As long as the injury does not get worse, there’s no chance that the title gets taken off her. There are some alternate plans being made in case of emergency situations where they are forced to do it. But for now, she’s definitely holding on to it.” [H/T Sportskeeda Wrestling]

WWE Women’s Champion was recently targeted by a new SmackDown star

The former NXT Women’s North American Champion, Blake Monroe recently arrived on SmackDown after weeks of teasing. During one of her teasing vignettes, The Glamour targeted the WWE Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley, with the following statement:

Dear diary, there are so many fascinating women in that SmackDown locker room. Take for example Rhea Ripley. Such presence, such brutality, such delicious misery wrapped in all that black leather. You are as captivating as can be, but while you spend all your time trying to strike fear into the hearts of others, I know you’re only hiding from your own. All that heartbreak and betrayal.”

It remains to be seen if Blake Monroe will go after Rhea Ripley soon following her move to SmackDown.
