BREAKING: New AEW Champion Suddenly Crowned At Dynamite: Beach Break
AEW had a huge night of action planned for tonight as it hosted its annual television special, AEW Dynamite: Beach Break. The show was scheduled to feature two massive title matches.
Both the AEW World and the International Championships were on the line tonight. With the World Championship set to be defended in the main event of the show, Konosuke Takeshita’s title defense was up first.
The AEW International Champion defended his title against former friend, Kyle Fletcher in the second match of the night. The two had been good friends for the last seven years and were also in the Don Callis Family together.
Given their shared history, the two men knew each other very well inside the ring and wrestled a highly competitive match. Both men were completely spent by the time the final bell rang.
AEW International Championship changes hands on Dynamite
It was very evenly matched between the two, as they kept one-upping each other. Fletcher slammed Takeshita onto the ring apron took take control as he kept targetting his right arm.
Takeshita took Fletcher out with a massive dive to the outside and got control of the match again. He hit Fletcher with a massive Piledriver/Wheelbarrow Suplex combo on the apron, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
The Protostar then came close to winning the match on multiple occasions, getting a nearfall with the Michunuku Driver and a massive Tiger Bomb. When that wasn’t enough to put him away, Fletcher went big.
He hit a huge Brainbuster on the turnbuckle to get Takeshita down for the three count. He emerged victorious to become the new AEW International Champion and bring the title back into the Family.
