Big E dropped a huge revelation.

Big E gained a lot of traction as soon as he made his WWE debut because of his massive size. However, his claim to fame came when he joined The New Day. This brought Big E’s personality and comedic timing to the limelight for the fans to appreciate.

Big E went on to become one of the most successful tag team wrestlers due to his time in The New Day. After being in a tag team for years, Big E finally got the chance to win the World Title in 2021. On the 13th September 2021 episode of RAW, he shocked the world when he defeated Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. He held the title for a few months before dropping it to Brock Lesnar at WWE Day 1 2022. However, this wasn’t the original plan for his title run.

Big E has revealed the scrapped plans for his WWE Championship run

During a recent interview with Sam Roberts on Notsam Wrestling, Big E revealed that he was originally supposed to drop the WWE Championship to Seth Rollins at Day 1 in a singles match. However, the creative direction of the match changed, and Kevin Owens and Bobby Roode got added to the bout. Roman was also supposed to be part of the match, but he was sick and Brock filled in. The former New Day member also said that he was supposed to regain the title at WrestleMania 38. However, he wound up injuring his neck.

“Actually, what we were moving towards initially was — it was supposed to be and Seth in a singles at Day 1. I was going to drop the title anyway, it’s supposed to drop the title to Seth. We come back at Mania, we do it again, I regain the title. That’s what was originally [planned]. You know, things change all the time, so who knows what was meant. I think by the time we got to December, it already started morphing. Seth was named as the number one contender, I can’t remember exactly when that was, but we had a lot of lead time before Day 1. Creative, the office was like, okay, well we need a filler program. So then, KO got added. It became a three way thing for a little bit. Then, Bobby needed something to do. Vince loves Bobby, so Bobby’s inserted. It was supposed to be a four-way at Day 1. Roman’s sick, Brock’s in. The match that was supposed to be a singles where I dropped the title at Day 2. I regain it at WrestleMania. By the time we get to WrestleMania, my neck is broken, my career is over. That whole butterfly effect, it’s kind of insane. I don’t mention any of this because woe is me, I should’ve gotten a WrestleMania spot. But, it’s so funny how life works.” [H/T Fightful]

Big E has since retired from the ring due to an injury he suffered during a match on WWE SmackDown.
