WWE Called Out For Creating An “Absolute Mess”

WWE has been called out by a veteran.

For the past few weeks, Sami Zayn has been playing a heel character on SmackDown. Despite his best efforts to smooth things over, he always managed to get on the bad side of Cody Rhodes.

All this culminated in a WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther, where Sami Zayn was named the special guest referee. However, circumstances led Sami to get involved in the match and cost Gunther the title. Therefore, at Night of Champions, Cody Rhodes defended his title against Gunther and Sami Zayn in a triple threat match. Sami managed to shock the world and win the WWE Title. Just a week after winning the title, Sami was asked to defend his title against the American Nightmare on RAW. However, Gunther attacked Cody Rhodes at the start of the show, which ruled him out of the match. Therefore, CM Punk was named as the replacement, and the title match took place as planned. However, the Second City Saint managed to defeat Sami Zayn and end his short title reign.

Vince Russo calls WWE out for this booking decision

During a recent edition of Vince Russo’s The Brand podcast, the former WWE writer said that the Stamford-based promotion made CM Punk the champion just to get a cheap pop from the crowd. However, he wouldn’t call it a pop because it was just momentary. He also said that the sports entertainment juggernaut has been focused on getting pops from the audience for a while now. Instead, they should be focusing on building a good story.

“Ben, I swear, I talk a lot about this with Al Snow. And Al doesn’t even call it a pop. He calls it like a momentary, because you got to build to a pop. That’s what a pop is. A pop is to build to a pop. Then you get the pop. These are not builds to pop. This is like a momentary moment. That’s what it is, bro. And this is what this company has been doing forever.

I just said, bro, a pop is a moment. It’s a one-off. A pop is a one-off. A story is like a lifetime. If you have a good story, we’re going to talk about Andre ripping the chain off Hulk Hogan’s neck until people don’t know who Hulk Hogan and Andre are…..That’s the difference between a story and just for the pop.”

Vince Russo further said that WWE creative is making things so complicated when it doesn’t have to be. This has led them to create an “absolute mess” where Punk is now the WWE Champion just for the sake of getting a pop.

“Bro, they’re making something so complicated when there’s so many things they can do to simplify it. That is the issue. They’re making this harder than it is. They’ve created a system and a foundation that everybody is running into each other. There’s too many people involved. There aren’t enough hours in a day to come up with freaking creative, and they’ve just created this absolute mess.

So now, at the end of the day, all you really have is let’s put the title on CM Punk in Chicago and let’s get the pop.”

It remains to be seen if Sami Zayn will get his rematch against CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
