Cody Rhodes Comes Face-To-Face With The Rock Outside WWE
Cody Rhodes and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently reunited away from the squared circle.
The two wrestling heavyweights last shared the spotlight during the 2025 Elimination Chamber, where Johnson demanded that The American Nightmare align with him, only to see his offer turned down.
They had also feuded in the lead-up to Cody Rhodes’ title match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. On Night 1 of the event, The Rock teamed up with Reigns to take on Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
The Final Boss was expected to have a longer feud with Cody Rhodes in 2025, but the plans never saw the light of day, much to the frustration of wrestling fans.
Despite not having crossed paths since March 2025, the two men recently came face-to-face. Rhodes recently shared an Instagram Story, which showed him attending the premiere of Johnson’s latest live-action movie, Moana.
Cody Rhodes Believes His Story With The Rock Is Unfinished
Amid The Rock’s absence from WWE, a plethora of rumors have emerged, including there being a backstage power struggle between the members of the TKO Group.
Whether or not that is keeping him from appearing in the Stamford promotion is debatable because The People’s Champion remains heavily focused on his Hollywood career at present.
In the meantime, Cody Rhodes decided to touch upon his television feud with The Final Boss while speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, revealing how instrumental he had been in his life.
Hmm. Dwayne Johnson has become a bit of a fixture in my career and in my life. Not just for his flag-in-the-sand moment that was WrestleMania and the emergence of one of the better characters that we only saw a little of — The Final Boss.
While he admitted that their feud did not progress any further than the Elimination Chamber, he said that it had left a massive mark on his career.
Rhodes recalled sharing screen space with the 54-year-old in WWE, stating that he had unfinished business with him, although not promising that their story will reach a desired conclusion.
I don’t want to give it an absolute that we have to settle that, but I think it’s an unfinished story, which probably means there are two unfinished stories out there, and they don’t always get finished.
Cody Rhodes stressed further on the two versions of how their storyline could play out, where one perspective caters to him, and the other satiates the fans.
In wrestling, there is a lot of fantasy booking, but there’s a lot that goes into it. There’s a version of this story where finishing the story for me is trying to be as successful as I can be following his lead, breaking into TV and Hollywood that he thought only he could do, and doing that to honor him.
But then there’s a version of it that’s appealing to a wrestling fan — that The Final Boss shows up and there’s more on the table than a non-ending. So I can’t answer that, Ariel.
The Rock’s upcoming flick Moana is scheduled to release on July 10. However, even before its official release, speculations about its potential box office earnings are doing the rounds.
