[Watch] CM Punk Spotted Reuniting With Ex-AEW Champion In WWE
At WrestleMania 42, CM Punk was freed of the burden of carrying the World Heavyweight Championship.
On Night 2 of the Show of Shows, Punk defended his title against Roman Reigns, with whom he had been feuding post-Royal Rumble.
After winning the Rumble event, Reigns announced Punk as his preferred choice of champion for WrestleMania. Over the next several weeks, they traded verbal as well as physical jabs, turning their feud into one of the must-see matches at the annual event.
The two superstars even put on a stellar performance at the premium live event despite their match containing a controversial moment, where Reigns hit Punk with the steel steps, which should have been an automatic disqualification, but was not, for some reason.
Punk also bled throughout the fight, ultimately running out of steam. The OTC capitalized on the opportunity and hit CM Punk with two spears for the victory.
Following his loss, the 47-year-old reunited with a former AEW Champion backstage, a video of which was shared on his Instagram account by the wrestler himself, Rusev.

Rusev also competed on Night 2 as one of the participants in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match, where Penta retained his title.
As for Rusev and CM Punk, they never competed in a one-on-one match, presenting fans with a fantasy booking option. They were both in AEW at the same time, although their paths never crossed.
How Did CM Punk React To WrestleMania 42 Loss
After losing to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, CM Punk ran into backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond, who asked him how he was feeling. In response, he simply smirked before walking away.
During the post-show, Redmond detailed her interaction with the former world champion, speaking to Joe Tessitore, Corey Graves, and Big E on the panel.
Tess, you guys just missed CM Punk.He just walked by and to be honest with you, I just looked at him and said “Punk, how? How did you survive that?”
And to be honest with you, he just smirked at me like he didn’t know the answer to that question but he stopped at the top of this ramp, he took a t-shirt from a fan, put it on, and then blew kisses to the crowd. He is devastated by this loss.
I dunno how he has any juice left but he looks like a man that is still willing to fight.
Punk was also part of the Raw episode after WrestleMania, where he appeared lively despite losing his title one night before.
He also admitted that he was not going to sulk over one defeat and instead wanted to be ready because one could never know when another title opportunity might come by.
Punk was then confronted by the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who retained his title against Randy Orton. During their segment, The Second City Saint hinted at coming for The American Nightmare’s championship in the future.
