Triple H Breaks Silence On WWE SummerSlam Title Match Announcement

The WWE CCO Triple H issued a statement after a major title match was announced for SummerSlam 2026.

The SummerSlam 2026 match card is already looking stacked with matches like Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins for the World title, Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell, and the Undisputed WWE title match between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Meanwhile, Triple H made an exciting Intercontinental Championship match official for the event as well.

This week on RAW, a gauntlet match took place to determine who will challenge Penta for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam in a few weeks. Although Je’Von Evans delivered a great ironman performance in the gauntlet, Chad Gable emerged as the winner at the end. Therefore, Gable will face Penta for the I.C title at the biggest event of the summer.

Taking to the X social media platform, Triple H issued an official statement for the match between Chad Gable and Penta for the Intercontinental title, stating that the road to redemption runs through Minneapolis, Minnesota, which happens to be Gable’s hometown:

The road to redemption runs through Minneapolis, Minnesota. Chad Gable challenges PENTA for the Intercontinental Championship at #SummerSlam!” The Game wrote.

WWE Hall of Famer believes Triple H and his creative team would be dumb to not push the beloved star

After his successful run as El Grande Americano, Chad Gable was unmasked after losing in a memorable mask vs mask match on AAA against the new El Grande. The WWE Hall of Famer, AJ Styles said if WWE creative under Triple H doesn’t capitalize on Gable’s momentum, they would be dumb:

I think he’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. If we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies.”

AJ Styles also said that Chad Gable could be a heavyweight champion, while explaining his background:

He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit freaking pro wrestler that there’s no way somebody in the crowd is going, ‘I think I can take freaking Chad Cable.’ Dude, legit, he will drop you on your head and there’s nothing you can do about it. He will scoop you up and drop you.”

This guy is legit. Everything about him, his look, ability, everything about him is a scary if you know anything about collegiate wrestling or pro wrestling. This guy can take care of business. Yeah no, he’s legit.”

It remains to be seen if Gable manages to win the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam.
