Ex-WWE & AEW Star Jake Hager’s Heartbreaking Divorce Confession
Jake Hager recently revealed the biggest loss in his life.
While competing as an active wrestler in WWE and AEW, Hager experienced his share of adversities. Still, according to him, nothing comes close to having watched his marriage to Catalina White end.
Hager first met White in Florida Championship Wrestling, where she performed as Saylor James. The couple got married in December 2010 and shared two children before deciding to go their separate ways around 2023.
A few months ago, he officially signed with Power Slap, where he won his debut match against Devin Jenkins by knockout in the third round.
Jake Hager recently appeared on the Advice Unfiltered podcast, where he touched upon the topic of his marriage.
Hager joked that he does not see his ex-wife standing opposite him while competing in Power Slap. However, he went on to reveal how his divorce adversely affected him.
The former wrestler said that as a performer, he was conditioned to accept wins and losses, but watching his marriage fall apart was the toughest, which even resulted in him selling his million-dollar home.
Honestly, though, I’m glad I can laugh about it now. But in my mind, that was the biggest loss that I ever took in my life. Like I told you, I don’t lose. To split the family up, have a million-dollar home, have to sell it for the divorce, and now the whole life changed—it was a big deal to me.
Hager even admitted to blaming himself for the divorce while looking away from reality.
For the longest time, I couldn’t stop blaming myself. I blamed myself, and I was like, ‘This is why you’re here.’ I was hiding from the change.
Jake Hager then reached a point in life where he was forced to introspect his approach and make changes that allowed him to rebuild himself.
Now I’m at a point where it’s like, ‘Oh, you don’t like this? Then f*cking do something about it and change it.’ It’s so refreshing to go through that journey because the last three years have been f*cking rough on me.
Now that I’m here and I have so many opportunities, I can just work hard and change it. It’s so refreshing to feel like I’m there. I’m so glad to be out of the smoke. [H/T: Ringside News]
Jake Hager Started A Trucking Company After Retiring From Professional Wrestling
Before joining Power Slap, Jake Hager was a popular wrestler on both WWE and AEW brands.
His stint with World Wrestling Entertainment occurred between 2006 and 2017, during which he won multiple titles, including the World Heavyweight Championship.
In March 2017, he was granted his release after asking for it.
After spending more than a year in the independent circuit, he joined All Elite Wrestling. Unfortunately, he was not excessively featured on the brand, nor did he win any titles there.
He was also critical of his time in the company while speaking during interviews following his departure.
During an appearance on Saraya’s Rule Breakers podcast some time ago, Jake Hager said that he had retired from professional wrestling and had started his own business and was the owner of a trucking company in Florida.
I’m getting out of wrestling. I pretty much—I could say I’m retired from it.
I started a trucking company and so… running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving—got people driving. But yeah, I’m excited. Something to stick my teeth into. Hard work always pays off.
While Jake Hager’s divorce is tragic, he refused to let it keep him down and looked for new opportunities and ventures.
