Captain Insano Appears On AEW Dynamite

Captain Insano The Acclaimed AEW

Captain Insano made an unexpected appearance on AEW Dynamite.

Paul Wight first appeared as Captain Insano in the Adam Sandler film The Waterboy back in 1998. Now 25 years later, Wight has reprised the character once again in AEW. Wight has already been seen in the company as Captain Insano in a music video for The Acclaimed and on Dynamite in Denver he appeared in another video package.

MJF and Adam Cole were enjoying a trip on MJF’s father’s boat when some issues came to light surrounding Cole missing the start of MJF’s AEW Title match with Samoa Joe at Dynamite Grand Slam. Adam Cole’s late entrance to help his partner came down to him spending a lot of time on the phone with Roderick Strong and MJF seemed none too happy about it.

The AEW World Champion was seen loading up the Dynamite Diamond ring behind Cole’s back before Cole asked if he had brought him out on the boat to knock him out and throw him overboard. The Salt of the Earth then changed tact as Cole explained that it was okay to have more than one friend and was in fact quite normal. MJF said that wasn’t for him but he respected Cole’s decision before Cole’s fishing line showed that he’d gotten a bite.

As the two men tried to reel in their haul it transpired that they’d actually hooked Captain Insano who was enjoying life on the open sea on an inflatable duck. Insano then joined the ROH Tag Team Champions on board for a cold beer.

What else happened on AEW Dynamite?

The show opened with Rey Fenix putting the AEW International Championship on the line for the first time against Jeff Jarrett after Tony Khan revealed that Fenix had been cleared to compete at the last minute. Fenix retained his gold but will be defending it once again on the 4th anniversary edition of Dynamite against Nick Jackson who won a three-way match against Claudio Castagnoli and Brian Cage to claim the title shot.

Julia Hart built some momentum before her TBS Title shot against Kris Statlander at WrestleDream as she picked up a win over Willow Nightingale.
