WWE Legend Breaks Bad News To Sami Zayn After Title Loss
Sami Zayn has received some bad news from a WWE Hall of Famer after losing the Undisputed title. The legend in question is Bully Ray (fka Bubba Ray Dudley).
Sami Zayn was on top of the world since he won the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time in his career at Night of Champions 2026. However, the celebration was short-lived, as Sami is no longer the champion after just nine days of his reign.
This past Monday on RAW, Sami Zayn was set for his first Undisputed title defense against Cody Rhodes. After Cody was taken out of the match following a backstage attack by Gunther, CM Punk made his return after a few months of absence to replace Cody and ended up defeating Zayn to take the title from him.
WWE legend has bad news for Sami Zayn
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio recently, the WWE legend, Bully Ray (fka Bubba Ray Dudley) implied that Sami Zayn’s role in the main event title scene has come to an end after his Undisputed title loss, and also claimed that Sami was never viewed as a main eventer by the management:
I think that Sami’s role in this may have come to an end. Let’s take a look at Sami Zayn’s career in the WWE. When has Sami ever been used long-term or in anything more than a co-star role? The match that he had in Montreal with Roman Reigns when that’s a one-night. Here’s your one night. It’s gone. Sami Zayn has never been a true main eventer in the WWE’s eyes.”
Bully Ray also praised Sami Zayn for playing the role of a transitional WWE Champion:
Somebody needed to play the role of Sami Zayn. And there was no better person than Sami. Somebody needed to be that transitional champion for nine days. Somebody needed to play that part, play that role. Sami was the best guy for the job. That’s why they put him there. So, you can look at it from the positive or the negative.”
It’s real easy to be negative and go, ‘Well, he was only champion for nine days, blah blah blah.’ But the positive is they chose Sami to be in that role because they knew that Sami can play that role better than anybody else in the company for that story,” Bully Ray stated.
