WWE Sets Up Huge Wrestling Clash With NXT PLE Announcement

The first NXT Premium Live Event is coming in May during a very busy month of major wrestling shows.

This coming Saturday, April 1st, the NXT brand will be running its biggest show of the year called Stand & Deliver at the Arena in Los Angeles.

In May, WWE is going to be very busy with Premium Live Events. The WWE main roster (Raw & Smackdown brands) will have a PLE called Backlash on May 6th in Puerto Rico with Bad Bunny as the host. That will be followed by the King & Queen of the Ring PLE on Saturday, May 27th in Saudi Arabia as well.

Earlier today, WWE announced that the NXT Battleground PLE will take place on Sunday, May 28th in Lowell, Massachusetts with an 8 p.m. ET start time.

What’s interesting about that date is that AEW will also be running their Double or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday, May 28th in Las Vegas. For now, both shows will start at the same time with 8 p.m. ET as the starting time.

WWE also sent out a press release regarding NXT Battleground.

STAMFORD, Conn., March 30, 2023 – WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced that NXT Battleground will take place live at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. on Sunday, May 28. Tickets for the premium live event go on sale Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m. ET via

This marks the first time that an NXT premium live event has taken place in Massachusetts and the second time since February 2020 that a stand-alone NXT premium live event has taken place outside of the state of Florida. NXT Vengeance Day emanated from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte this past February.

NXT Battleground will feature the biggest Superstars from NXT in action, including NXT Champion Bron Breakker, North American Champion Wes Lee, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, Carmelo Hayes, Tiffany Stratton and more.

“We look forward to returning NXT to the road and delivering an incredible night of action to the passionate fans of Massachusetts and those watching at home,” said WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels.

NXT Battleground will stream live exclusively on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network everywhere else. Additional information on the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
