WWE Talent Ruled Out Of Action For About 9 Months
A popular star under WWE’s banner has reportedly been ruled out of action for around nine months. The talent in discussion is El Hijo Del Vikingo.
El Hijo Del Vikingo is one of the biggest names on the Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling scene. The 29-year-old has been one of the major names on the AAA promotion for years now. Last year, it was announced that WWE had acquired the Lucha Libre AAA promotion, so Vikingo is currently signed under the Stamford-based promotion’s banner.
Last month, El Hijo Del Vikingo made his WWE SmackDown in-ring debut, as he challenged Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight title. Vikingo failed to capture the title after a highly athletic encounter and has also been out injured since then.
In a recent social media post, El Hijo Del Vikingo shared a montage from the hospital, revealing that he is undergoing surgery. Meanwhile, a new report provided an update on Vikingo’s surgery and return timeline.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that El Hijo Del Vikingo is expected to be out of action for “about nine months” after he underwent a torn ACL surgery recently:
Right now the expectation of El Hijo del Vikingo, who underwent surgery for a torn ACL on 7/7, is that he will be out of action for about nine months, Dave noted.

Popular star teased a full-time WWE move earlier this year
The popular AAA star, El Hijo Del Vikingo declared in an interview earlier this year that he has done everything in Mexico and is just steps away from leaving:
No, everything I had to do in Mexico, I’ve already done. So now we are just steps away from leaving. I mean, expect surprises, and we’re going to be where you least expect it.”
Vikingo also teased a WWE move, saying he could be seen on NXT or RAW:
Well, you’re from the media and you know that I’ve defended it everywhere and against anyone. It’s going to be the same now with the WWE alliance. You could see me anywhere, you know? So I have no problem defending it anywhere — whether it’s in NXT, on Raw, wherever — you’ll see me.”
Well, El Hijo Del Vikingo has already wrestled on SmackDown last month, and it remains to be seen if he will be featured on WWE TV more often when he returns from injury.
