Major Star Fuels WWE Move Rumors With Shocking Announcement
A top AAA star has sparked speculation about joining WWE in the near future.
El Hijo del Vikingo is scheduled to challenge for the AAA Mega Championship, currently held by Dominik Mysterio, in a No Disqualification match at Rey de Reyes on March 14.
The title match is career-altering for both superstars, as it comes with a couple of high-risk stipulations.
If Mysterio retains his belt, Vikingo cannot challenge for the title as long as the 28-year-old is the champion. Conversely, if Vikingo wins the title, Mysterio must leave AAA Lucha Libre.
The son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, Dominik has earned a massive fan following in the Mexican promotion. Vikingo, who is also a second-generation superstar, turned heel a few months ago and has since aligned himself with Omos and Dorian Roldan.
El Hijo Del Vikingo Hints At Joining WWE
On the eve of his bout against Dominik Mysterio, El Hijo del Vikingo appeared for an interview with Superluchas, where he hinted at a possible future in the Stamford promotion, claiming that he had achieved everything in Mexico and it was time to look elsewhere.
No, everything I had to do in Mexico, I’ve already done. So now we are just steps away from leaving. I mean, expect surprises, and we’re going to be where you least expect it.
Well, you’re from the media and you know that I’ve defended it everywhere and against anyone. It’s going to be the same now with the WWE alliance. You could see me anywhere, you know? So I have no problem defending it anywhere — whether it’s in NXT, on Raw, wherever — you’ll see me.
He also highlighted the working relationship between both promotions, stating that fans should expect movement of talents between the conglomerates.
Imagine this: WWE stars coming to AAA, and now AAA stars going to WWE. Don’t take your eyes off the broadcast because you’re going to see some good surprises.
