BREAKING: WWE SummerSlam Main Event Officially Set After Returning WWE Star Costs Gunther
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event ended the in-ring action the same way it began- with a high stakes tag team match inside Madison Square Garden.
The night began with the Fatal Influence dethroning Brie Bella and Paige as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, with some help from Jacy Jayne.
Meanwhile, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes took on Sami Zayn and Gunther in the final match of the night. If Sami and Gunther won the match, they would be added to Punk and Cody’s Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam.
The match began with a huge brawl between Punk and Zayn before the faces got the upper hand. Zayn then isolated Punk from his tag team partner to get them back into the fight.
Things quickly delved into chaos as the animosity between the two teams reached a boiling point. At one point, Cody and Punk had locked Zayn and Gunther into submissions simultaneously.
Gunther poked CM Punk in the eye to free Zayn, who helped him get rid of Cody. All four men took each other out then, and all of them laid out cold in the ring.
Gunther wreaked havoc during WWE SNME
Zayn recovered soon enough and tagged Gunther in. He smashed Punk into Cody, who was on the apron, causing him to fall to the ground. He then locked the WWE Champion in a Sleeper Hold.
Punk reversed it to pick him up for the GTS and tagged Cody in as Gunther struggled to get out. Rhodes then hit him with a CrossRhodes and Cody went for the pin.
Zayn broke the pin attempt but injured the referee in the process. During the chaos, Cody went to hit the Cody Cutter on Gunther, but the Ring General moved out of the way.
Rhodes smashed into Punk following which Gunther clocked Cody with the Undisputed WWE Championship, hit a powerbomb and called out a new referee.

However, before he could count to three, SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis, returned and pulled the referee out of the ring.
Aldis then smashed the belt into Gunther’s face and Punk picked him up to hit the GTS. He then dragged Cody Rhodes onto Gunther for the cover.
Aldis sent the original referee back in the ring, who counted till three as CM Punk and Cody Rhodes celebrated their win together in the ring.
