BREAKING: WWE Suddenly Announces Major Match For SNME Countdown
WWE has added a title match for the Countdown Show on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The latest match brings the tally to 5 matches for the evening, with an additional segment featuring World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.
Hours before SNME, WWE announced on its social media accounts that United States Champion Trick Williams will defend his title against Laredo Kid from AAA Lucha Libre.
Trick’s last competitive appearance was on the July 10 edition of SmackDown, where he faced Carmelo Hayes in a non-title match. The bout ended in a no-contest due to the interference of Baron Corbin, who has returned to the company after nearly 2 years.
Laredo Kid, meanwhile, has remained a AAA loyalist for the majority of his wrestling career, having also spent brief stints in TNA and AEW.
The masked luchador dropped the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship to Rey Fenix during Week 1 of Noche de Los Grandes, ending his 539-day reign.
The Countdown Show will begin at 7:30 PM ET. Saturday Night’s Main Event will follow it at 8 PM ET on Peacock in the United States and on YouTube internationally.

- Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh (w/Dominik Mysterio) – No Disqualification match
- Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria – Singles match
- Paige & Brie Bella (c) vs. Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid – Women’s Tag Team Championship match
- Roman Reigns appearance with Jalen Brunson
- CM Punk & Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther & Sami Zayn – Tag Team Match (if Gunther & Zayn win, they will be added to the SummerSlam title match, making it a 4-way bout)
Baron Corbin Puts Trick Williams On Notice During WWE SmackDown
Baron Corbin’s WWE return last week took the wrestling world by surprise.
However, his appearance was not devoid of intention, as he made it clear that he was coming for the United States Championship, currently held by Trick Williams.
On July 17, a vignette featuring Corbin aired on SmackDown, where he spoke about attacking Trick and Carmelo Hayes. Corbin claimed that Hayes was merely collateral damage as he put Williams on the top of his list.
Corbin then told Trick to enjoy his reign while it lasted.
Shortly afterward, Williams addressed Corbin’s attack, claiming that it was out of sheer jealousy. He was then interrupted by Carmelo, who said that he was not done chasing the WWE United States Championship.
