WWE SmackDown Ratings Surge Following Triple H Appearance

WWE Triple H

The television ratings for WWE SmackDown were up and that’s perhaps due to an appearance from Triple H.

It was a very newsworthy end of the week for WWE going into Smackdown In Charlotte, NC because that show came on the heels of the explosive WrestleMania 40 Press Event in Las Vegas.

Following the WrestleMania 40 Press Event that featured Cody Rhodes challenging Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to a match at WrestleMania 40 and The Rock slap Cody for his comments, WWE promoted a Triple H appearance on Smackdown.

That led to WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque delivering a message to The Rock & Reigns saying that he was the one that had the power in WWE, not them. Triple H didn’t mention them by name, but it was clear who he was talking to.

According to Sports Media Watch, Smackdown on February 9th drew 2.578 million viewers in final viewership numbers, which is up from 2.469 million viewers. According to WrestleOps, that’s the highest TV audience for Smackdown since August 2023 and the second highest since December 2022.

In other ratings news, Smackdown drew an an impressive 0.75 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, which is also the highest it has been in that key demo since August 2023, which means the highest in six months.

What’s also interesting about the strong rating is that WWE didn’t advertise a main event before the show. They put Drew McIntyre-AJ Styles on in the opening match and Randy Orton-Sami Zayn in the main event, but those matches were only announced during the show.

The Rock & Roman Reigns Returning To WWE Smackdown

It was also announced on that same episode of Smackdown that The Rock and Roman Reigns are both going to appear on this Friday’s February 16th episode of Smackdown in Salt Lake City.

That will be a double taping where they ape the February 23rd episode of Smackdown as well, so that could mean two straight weeks of The Rock and The Tribal Chief on the blue brand.
