WWE Referee Breaks Silence After Horrendous SmackDown Botch
A WWE referee has been forced to break their silence after a botch on SmackDown left everyone confused.
The September 26th edition of SmackDown saw Tiffany Stratton defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax in a triple threat match. That bout came two weeks after Stratton suffered an apparent injury in a title defence against Cargill that ended in a double count out.
Stratton was able to retain her title in the bout, but the match ended in controversy. Stratton cleared Cargill out of the ring to pin Jax, but the referee only counted to two before pulling up despite the fact that Nia Jax clearly did not kick out. Jax then moved after the referee stopped the count and the fans began to turn on the match.
Tiffany Stratton went to the top rope to hit her Prettiest Moonsault Ever on Jax and then pin her for the three count.
WWE Referee Strives To Be Better
After the botch went viral online, the match referee Daphanie LaShaunn broke her silence on the situation on social media, where she wrote:
I see all the love. I’m just human, but I can promise that I strive to always be better. Which will forever be my goal as long as I’m on this journey. I love this just like y’all. That I can swear to you.
LaShaunn did not make a direct reference to the SmackDown incident, but it is believed by many that is what she was talking about.
