The Real Reason Behind Liv Morgan’s WWE Queen Of The Ring Entry
On the Clash in Italy post-show, WWE officially unveiled the participants of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
In the star-studded line-up for both men’s and women’s matches, one name stood out, and that was Liv Morgan.
Morgan is the current holder of the Women’s World Championship, which she won by defeating Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42.
The winner of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments automatically earns a world title shot against the champion of their respective brand.
So, naturally, Liv Morgan’s name popping up in the tournament bracket left many wrestling fans scratching their heads and asking what would happen if Morgan won the tournament at Night of Champions?
The on-screen angle was then explained on the post-show itself, where the 31-year-old appeared and claimed that she wanted to “win it all,” meaning if she won the tournament, she would challenge the SmackDown Women’s Champion, who at present is Rhea Ripley.
Reason Behind Liv Morgan’s Queen Of The Ring Tournament Participation Explained
Following her WrestleMania 42 victory, Liv Morgan was expected to continue her feud with Stephanie Vaquer.
However, Vaquer’s legitimate injury forced WWE to pivot. While the creative team could have had Morgan face another challenger, they decided against it and instead await Vaquer’s return, according to a report by Ibou of Self Made Sessions.
I asked about the Liv Morgan thing and basically the mentality is what they’ve planned out with her involves Stephanie Vaquer and she’s not ready [to return] yet. So when she’s ready, they will resume.
My immediate retort was ‘So why not just come up with something else in the in between time?’ But that’s just not how they operate for whatever reason. Basically, they’re going to just do the next step with Stephanie. Stephanie’s hurt, so Liv’s just going to exist in the meantime. [H/T: Wrestlezone.com]
Liv Morgan To Compete In QOTR First-Round Match On WWE Raw
Liv Morgan’s last match was on the April 20 episode of Raw, where she was added to an impromptu match against Sol Ruca.
In her debut match on the red brand, Ruca gave it her all, even hitting her Sol Snatcher finisher, only to see the champion roll out of the ring before she could pin her.
Soon after, she was attacked by her former best friend, Zaria, allowing Morgan to hit Oblivion for the victory.
Morgan will now compete in the first-round match of the Queen of the Ring tournament on June 8, where she will face Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green.
On June 1, IYO SKY became the first woman to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament after her victory over Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Lash Legend.
