WWE Dream Match Took Place During Live Event

A never before seen dream match took place over the weekend at a WWE Live Event!

Fans who attend non-televised WWE Live Events often get to witness things not shown on television, and this weekend was no exception. At the December 17th live event in Moline, IL, Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER defended his title against AJ Styles in the first ever singles match between the two.

The finish of the match saw Styles win by disqualification, so while he holds a victory over the champion in the record books, GUNTHER was able to retain his Intercontinental Championship. One fan named Matt Kempke made footage of the match available online, and the video was posted on social media for those who weren’t in attendance to see.

GUNTHER himself also posted a photo of the bout, which was repeated the next night at a live event in Minnesota. The finish was the same on both occasions.

It remains to be seen if this dream matchup will make its way to television. AJ Styles currently performs as part of The OC on Raw, while GUNTHER leads Imperium on the SmackDown brand. However, cross-pollination between brands has become more commonplace in recent months, so a feud between the two men isn’t out of the question.

According to a recent report, GUNTHER could be in line for another dream match at WrestleMania 39 as he’s slated to potentially face none other than Brock Lesnar. The Intercontinental Champion has expressed interest in facing The Beast Incarnate, and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Cornette believes GUNTHER should emerge victorious if the match does indeed take place.
