Seth Rollins Reacts To WWE SummerSlam Card Announcement

Seth Rollins is happy with the placement of his match at WWE SummerSlam.

It’s officially SummerSlam week, with this year’s summer spectacular taking place on Saturday, August 1st, and Sunday, August 2nd, at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Since it is SummerSlam week, WWE announced which matches will take place on Saturday and which matches will take place on Sunday.  There are 12 matches total, so it works out perfectly with 6 matches set for each night. The scheduled matches look like this:

The Saturday, August 1st matches are:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
  • Hell in a Cell Match: Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
  • Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
  • LA Knight, Royce Keys & Solo Sikoa vs. The Usos – Jimmy & Jey Uso and Jacob Fatu
  • The Bella Twins – Nikki & Brie Bella and Paige vs. Fatal Influence – Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid

The Sunday, August 2nd matches are:

  • WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
  • WWE Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor
  • Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable
  • Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match: Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Chelsea Green vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Lash Legend/Giulia Winner
  • United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Baron Corbin
  • Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio

What that means is the likely main event on Sunday is the Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins match. WWE has yet to confirm the Saturday night main event is CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, but it’s likely that they go with that instead of the Oba Femi-Brock Lesnar match.

Seth Rollins Is Excited About Closing WWE SummerSlam

During an interview on Busted Open Radio, Seth Rollins talked about being in the main event of SummerSlam Sunday and how he always wants to be in a position to close the show.

“Gosh, you know what, I don’t know that I’ve had much experience with Night Two, to be honest with you. I think about my ‘Mania history; we did SummerSlam, obviously, last year was a two-nighter, but I didn’t wrestle on it. I just cashed in my Money in the Bank contract at the end of Night One. Most of my WrestleManias have been Night One as far as my matches are concerned.”

“No, I prefer the pressure of the main event. I like the pressure; I want it all, you know what I mean? That’s why you get in the business: to main-event the big shows. You don’t, no offense, if you’re getting in like, ‘You know, I’d like to be the second match on the card,’ then you’re in the wrong business. I think all of us want to be at the top, and the top is the match that goes on last.

“I don’t care about what anybody says. I know there’s been a lot of conversations regarding the ‘Mania main events now that you know there’s two nights. But I’m of the feeling that at Night Two, the last match that goes on is the money drawer; that’s the big match, it’s the marquee match, and so, you know, that’s the business I got into. So, I always want to close the show.”
