Wrestling Legend Defends How WWE Is Using Danhausen
A wrestling veteran came to the defense of Danhausen’s presentation by the WWE amid all the criticisms. The legend in question is Matt Hardy.
Danhausen first made a mark on the wrestling industry during his time in AEW a few years back. However, he was kept off TV for a long time before his eventual departure after his contract was up. At the Elimination Chamber PLE earlier this year, the Very Nice Very Evil made his WWE debut. Although the reaction by the crowd was polarizing during his arrival, he managed to win the fans over with his entertaining skits in a span of weeks.
Danhausen also made his WWE PLE in-ring debut at Backlash 2026, where he teamed with Minihausen to defeat the duo of The Miz and Kit Wilson. The 35-year-old star has been featured a lot by the Stamford-based promotion since his debut, and many fans are concerned that he is being overexposed by the WWE.
Veteran defends WWE’s presentation of Danhausen
Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, the wrestling veteran Matt Hardy said WWE is doing right by featuring Danhausen more while he is hot and not burning him out in the ring:
You’ve got to get it while it’s hot, man. So yeah—it’s okay, especially with the crossover stuff. That’s exactly what you want a character like that to do, especially someone who is so gimmicky like Danhausen. And I’m super happy for him that he’s succeeding so much. I mean, who knows how long his run is, but the most important thing is that they’re not burning him out in the ring—forcing him to wrestle over and over. He’s an attraction. He’s a novelty, and you use him as such,” Matt said.
Matt Hardy also recalled how he was doing Danhausen-like stuff with Bray Wyatt in WWE once, and Vince McMahon forced them to wrestle every week:
Myself and Bray Wyatt, we were fighting to be used more like novelties and do stuff like Danhausen is doing now when we were the Eater of Worlds. But Vince McMahon was like, ‘You guys are both big stars—I need you on TV. Go wrestle. Go wrestle. Go wrestle.’”
Matt Hardy concluded that WWE has nailed Danhausen’s presentation, and he has become a big star now:
And honestly, they’ve nailed Danhausen right now. The way he’s become a big star and got everybody talking—his stock is rising, his equity is growing every single week, and they’re doing the right thing.” [h/t Ringside News]
It remains to be seen what’s next for Danhausen in WWE.
