The Oba Femi open challenge on Raw did not go as planned.

The Ruler was scheduled to take on an unnamed opponent on Monday night who never turned up. Instead, it was Brock Lesnar blindsiding him before laying him out with four F5s.

Lesnar’s return to WWE came as a shock to fans, considering he had retired at WrestleMania 42, leaving his shoes and gloves in the ring following his loss to Femi.

The emotional moment even saw Brock throw up an X sign with his arms at Paul Heyman, hinting that his actions were unplanned and out of character.

There were reports claiming that Brock Lesnar’s decision came as a surprise to the company’s higher-ups, who were keen on bringing him back for a few more appearances before he rode off into the sunset permanently.

Some of WWE’s outlandish creative storylines, like Seth Rollins’ fake injury, make one wonder if Lesnar’s “retirement” was the plan all along to get the fans talking about him before bringing him back when it was least expected.

Paul Heyman Confirms Brock Lesnar’s WWE Status On Raw

WWE Raw general manager Adam Pearce was in disarray backstage. Backstage, he was seen discussing Brock Lesnar’s actions with Shane Helms, claiming that he had signed off on his retirement papers.

He then spotted Lesnar’s manager, Paul Heyman, whom he confronted. Pearce asked Heyman for an explanation when The Advocate confirmed that Lesnar was indeed retired.

Heyman also produced a contract with Lesnar’s signature on it for a match against Oba Femi at Clash in Italy on May 31. Pearce looked more confused now, a feeling that the WWE Universe has resonated with over the last 24 hours.

Ex-WWE Employee Predicts The Winner Of Brock Lesnar Vs. Oba Femi

Considering that Paul Heyman had a contract for Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi II ready on Raw, it is likely that the two heavyweights will square off at the Turin premium live event later this month.

Elsewhere, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci discussed Lesnar’s WWE return on The Last Word podcast, where he claimed that Saudi Arabia officials would have had some influence in bringing back The Beast Incarnate.

He also predicted the possible outcome of the bout, stating that Lesnar would come out as the victor.

And there’s no way Brock loses in Italy. He has to go over just because of his legacy and everything, I mean, he has to get one over on Oba in order to continue this storyline because if he beats him in Italy, who wants to see it anymore? Nobody, right? So, he has to go over in a big way, too. I think he really has to put the hammer to Oba when they have their match in Italy to move it forward. [3:53 onwards]
