William Regal on the ramp

William Regal has given thanks to those involved NXT UK after it was confirmed that the brand would cease to exist.

There had been plenty of speculation brewing over recent weeks that NXT UK was not going to be around for much longer. This all finally came to a head on 18th August 2022, when WWE announced the creation of NXT Europe for 2023, essentially ending the British brand at the same time.

In his role as WWE Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting, William Regal was integral in the formation of NXT UK as well as serving as General Manager in what was then the black and gold brand in the United States.

Despite the fact he is now the leader of The Blackpool Combat Club in AEW, William Regal has taken to social media in order to thank those who were involved in making NXT UK happen.

Thank you for the incredible memories @NXTUK. It was a pleasure to be a part of every show and training session I worked with you all.x

It didn’t take long after the announcement for top stars from NXT UK such as Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews to confirm their departure from WWE. They were released from their contracts alongside the likes of Trent Seven, Ashton Smith and Emilia McKenzie. A full list of those stars who were let go can be found here.
