Ex-WWE World Champion Comes Out Of Retirement At 44

A former WWE World Heavyweight Champion announced that he is coming out of retirement from pro wrestling. The star in discussion is Jake Hager (fka Jack Swagger).

Jake Hager gained prominence during his time in the WWE from 2008 to 2017 under the name ‘Jack Swagger,’ where he also became the World Heavyweight Champion once. He also had a run in AEW until his departure in 2024. Last year, Hager announced his retirement from pro wrestling.

In an interview, Jake Hager announced that he is retired to focus on his trucking business:

I’m getting out of wrestling. I pretty much—I could say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company and so… running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving—got people driving. But yeah, I’m excited. Something to stick my teeth into. Hard work always pays off.”

He later signed with UFC Power Slap to continue his career in combat sports. Meanwhile, Jake Hager is coming out of retirement from wrestling.

Former WWE World Champion is getting back into pro wrestling through a popular promotion

Speaking on the Off The Rails podcast, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Jake Hager revealed that he is in talks with the Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) promotion:

I’ve definitely been talking with the guys at JCW and trying to lock down some dates coming up here. I know they have some big ones coming up. I’d love to be a part of it. I think they’re a very good promotion that is really on the up and up. Deep down, 13-year-old Jake was a Juggalo. Don’t tell anybody. Whoop whoop.”

Jake Hager also weighed in on the importance of having multiple streams of income:

I have rental property. I have a trucking company that’s a year old, so I would definitely get into that. But I think in this day and age, everybody needs multiple streams of income.”

Hager further confirmed that he is getting back into pro wrestling and will potentially be at JCW:

I am definitely getting back into pro wrestling. Hopefully, I’ll be at JCW soon.”

I’m just going to roll with the punches. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty, whatever that means. I would love to get into coaching at some point, at some level. I feel like I would enjoy that.” [h/t Ringside News]
