Tony D’Angelo Survives Brutal NXT Street Fight To Retain His Title
Tony D’Angelo finally got his hands on the NXT Championship at Stand and Deliver and going for the title on numerous occasions in the past.
Since becoming the champion, he faced many challenges from various challengers, but none was as daunting and brutal as former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Naraku.
The former NJPW star targeted D’Angelo ever since he debuted on WWE NXT a few months back and was focused on capturing the NXT Championship.
After blindsiding D’Angelo for the last couple of weeks, the NXT General Manager, Robert Stone, announced a huge championship match for tonight.
As last week’s episode ended, Stone confirmed that the title would be defended in a Street Fight. Just as the match began, Naraku sprayed the Poison Mist in Tony’s face.
He then rag dolled him around the ring and put him through the LED barricade. He was dominating the match completely before D’Angelo crawled his way back into the match.
Massive NXT Championship match headlined the show
The champion used the weapons at his disposal to come back into the match. He brought out his old faithful, the Crowbar and turned the tide.
Naraku walked away as he saw the crowbar and got the ladder, which D’Angelo threw at his face. He then hit him with a Piledriver on the Trash Can.
The two then brawled outside where Naraku managed to hit The Abyss on Tony before throwing him through the announce table.
It still wasn’t enough to put D’Angelo away tough as he kicked out the pin attempt inside the ring at two. Naraku then tried to put him through another table and loaded the Poison Mist.
D’Angelo, however, was prepared this time and blocked it with his hands. He then put those hands on Naraku’s face causing the Mist to get in his eyes.
He then unleased a flurry of Kendo Stick attacks on him before going low with it. He then put Naraku through the table with the Dead to Rights to pick up the win and retain his title.
