Tony Khan offers no comment.

On March 8th it was reported that Kevin Kelly had been fired by AEW. Kelly had been with the company since June 2023 when he took up a position on the announce team for Collision.

The former WWE and NJPW announcer had come in for criticism for his performances online, but it’s been claimed recent outspoken posts on social media were the final nail in his AEW coffin.

In a series of posts, Kelly accused Ring of Honor announcer Ian Riccaboni of sabotaging his career and libel.

The report added that Kelly’s performances were seen as “sub-par” by AEW boss Tony Khan.

Tony Khan Keeps Quiet

During an interview with TV Insider ahead of AEW Dynamite Big Business, Khan was asked about Kelly’s departure. However, the AEW boss had little to say on the subject.

I prefer not to comment on that, but I appreciate you asking.

During the same interview, Tony Khan promised that a new star imminent.

“Big Business” is expected to play host to the AEW debut of Mercedes Mone. The star has been out of action since May 2023 when she suffered a broken ankle in a match against Willow Nightingale.

Despite being on the brink of making her AEW debut, Mercedes Mone recently claimed she will one day return to WWE.
