Maya World grabs a major championship victory at AEW Redemption.

Maya earned her shot as the number one contender for Hikaru Shida’s TBS Championship at Redemption by stepping up to save Queen Aminata from a brutal post-match assault around a week ago.

During their match at Redemption, Shida tried to use nasty tactics to retain her title, but failed. The closing moments of the match saw Shida hit three running strikes and a Falcon Arrow on Maya to cover her for the win.

Shida was overconfident that Maya wouldn’t kick out after this, but Maya touched the bottom ropes at the last second to break the pinfall. Shida thought that she had won the match, but the referee informed her that she was mistaken.

Maya World Becomes The AEW TBS Champion On Her 24th Birthday

While Shida was distracted by the referee, Maya hit her with a suplex to cover her and shockingly pinned her for the win. Hence, Maya World became the AEW TBS Champion. It was a big night for Maya, as it was also her 24th birthday.

The kickoff match of the night was the six-way ladder match to determine the #1 contender to the International Championship, which Speedball Mike Bailey won. Then, the Young Bucks defeated Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay in the second bout of the night.

After that, Kyle Fletcher successfully defended his International Championship against ROH World Champion Bandido.

In the fourth bout, The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors) defeated Bang Bang Gang (Jay White and Juice Robinson) in a Double Chain Match with some help from Daniel Garcia, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta.
