Tony D’Angelo Retains NXT Championship As Two Major Rivals Close In
Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT had a huge main event planned for the show as Tony D’Angelo put his title on the line. He was scheduled to face Kam Hendrix, who was only wrestling in his second match on NXT Television.
In his first televised match on the brand, Hendrix teamed up with Mason Rook to take on the team of both men’s champions, Tony D’Angelo and Myles Borne. He stole the pin from Rook during the match and picked up the win.
As a result of his win over Borne and D’Angelo, he was granted a championship match, and he chose to go after Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Championship. The two men met in the ring tonight in a hard-hitting affair.
D’Angelo began the match on the front foot and quickly took control of the match. Hendrix looked to get back into the fight and tried to get hold of the NXT title, but was stopped in his tracks by Naraku, who promised Tony that he’d keep him safe till they met in the ring.
Tony D’Angelo has a lot of challengers on WWE NXT
Hendrix and D’Angelo traded blow after blow as both men gave it their all to leave the show as champions. D’Angelo kicked out of everything Kam threw at him, leaving him to try desperate measures.
He crawled out of the ring and tried to get hold of a steel chair to use in his favor. This time, however, he was stopped by Mason Rook from using the chair, and the champion hit him with a back body drop on the announce table.
Tony then threw Kam in the ring and hit him with the Dead to Rights to retain his championship before Naraku handed him his title. He had a staredown with the Japanese star as Mason Rook watched on from ringside. Both Naraku and Rook are set to face each other in a number-one contender’s match next week.
