Injured WWE Star Breaks Silence After Being Replaced In Title Match
The latest episode of WWE NXT opened with the unfortunate news of Layla Diggs’s injury.
Diggs was scheduled to face Zaria for the NXT Women’s North American Championship after winning the #1 contendership match last week against Lizzy Rain, Izzy Dame, and Thea Hail.
However, at the top of the show, viewers were informed that Zaria would face an unknown challenger after Diggs was rendered unable to compete.
She was featured in a backstage segment later on with Nattie, EVOLVE Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons, and Karmen Petrovic, where she had a sling around her arm.
During the same segment, NXT General Manager Robert Stone confirmed that Zaria would defend her title in a 4-way match against Lyons, Izzi Dame, and Lizzy Rain.
Despite the odds stacked against her, Zaria managed to retain her title after hitting a spear on Lyons and following it up with an F5 for the successful pinfall.
Layla Diggs, meanwhile, has managed to put on impressive performances since her first television match on WWE NXT on May 26, where she lost to Jaida Parker. She had previously competed during NXT Live shows, WWE EVOLVE, dark matches, and LFG.
