NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo is one of the few remaining stars on the black and silver brand who has been with the promotion for the last few years. He won the title at Stand and Deliver last month and has vowed to be a fighting champion.

He came out to the ring tonight and acknowledged the newer stars that have joined the promotion, before confirming that he would take on Kam Hendrix in a title match next week on WWE NXT.

Hendrix and D’Angelo had been involved in a brawl a couple of weeks ago, and it seems like they’ll put their differences to rest next week. Tonight, however, Tony D’Angelo addressed someone else.

Naraku helps Tony D’Angelo on WWE NXT

He called out former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Naraku and asked him to come out to the ring. Naraku had warned Tony last week that he was coming after his title.

Naraku stated that he will be keeping Tony safe in his title match with Hendrix, as it’s their destiny to go to war over the NXT Championship. They were then interrupted by Hendrix, who boasted about becoming the new champion next week.

D’Angelo rebuffed Hendrix’s claims and stated that he doesn’t have it in him to become the champion before walking away from the ring. Kam went to attack him from behind, but Naraku stopped him, protecting Tony just as he had promised. He chucked Kam out of the ring before bowing in front of D’Angleo.
