Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

On an AEW Dynamite episode with three title matches, there was one title change that took place.

The January 17th episode of AEW Dynamite in North Charleston, SC featured three championship matches. The opening match saw Christian Cage retain the TNT Championship against Dustin Rhodes. Christian had to hit the Killswitch twice to put away his fellow Attitude Era wrestler.

In the main event, Samoa Joe retained the AEW World Title against Hook. While Hook put up a fight, the Samoan Submission Machine put his younger challenger away.

There was also an ROH Trios Tag Team Championship match with Mogul Embassy’s Toa Liona, Brian Cage & Bishop Kaun defending their titles against Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn.

Those two teams would go on to have a competitive match with both sides nearly coming away with the win. The finish saw The Mogul Embassy’s manager Prince Nana trying to use a title as a weapon against White, but Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed went into the ring to take the title from Nana and prevent the interference. That would lead to White hitting the Bladerunner on Kaun for the pinfall win to become the new ROH Tag Team Champions.

The AEW Trios Tag Team Champions Want To Form A Supergroup

After the match. The Acclaimed group of Bowens, Max Caster & Billy Gunn appeared with their AEW Tag Team Titles looking at the new ROH Tag Team Champions. The Acclaimed had asked Bullet Club Gold to work with them as a supergroup in the past, but Bullet Club Gold didn’t agree to it.

Perhaps now that both teams are Trios Tag Team Champions in AEW and ROH, The Acclaimed could get that supergroup alliance with Bullet Club Gold after all.
