A championship match has been added to the next edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The next major WWE Premium Live Event is SummerSlam on August 1 & August 2 in Minneapolis, but before we get there, WWE presents Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

There’s a lot of Saturday Night’s Main Event history in MSG, so it’s likely that WWE will try to set up some big matches for the event.

On WWE SmackDown in Atlantic City, Women’s Tag Team Champion Brie Bella faced off against newcomer Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence. The veteran Brie was in control early, but as the match went on, Reid’s allies Jacy Jayne & Fallon Henley got involved, and Brie’s championship partner Paige did all she could to handle them, but the interference became an issue.

Late in the match, Brie applied the Yes Lock submission, so Henley tried to help her partner. Paige slammed Henley on the floor. Paige also shoved Jayne into the ring post. Henley hit Paige with a forearm. Brie left the ring and sent Henley into the barricade. When Brie went back into the ring, Reid hit a knee smash for the pinfall win.

Thanks to that victory, WWE announced that at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18th, the Fatal Influence team of Henley & Reid will get a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Titles held by Brie Bella & Paige. Here’s the official announcement on WWE’s website.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Paige and Brie Bella will defend their title at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley of Fatal Influence.

Paige and Bella have retained the title four times, as they’ve beaten The Irresistible Forces twice, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, and Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

Can Fatal Influence end the dream run of Paige and Bella as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions?

Don’t miss Saturday Night’s Main Event, streaming LIVE on July 18 at 8 ET/5 PT on Peacock in the United States and Netflix internationally.

Brie Bella and Paige have been the Women’s Tag Team Champions since WrestleMania 42, so the July 18th match will be about three months after they first won the gold.

Brie Bella Was Frustrated By Recent WWE Booking

While speaking on her podcast, The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie Bella recently expressed her frustrations with the WWE creative team because she and Paige didn’t get to appear in front of the hot European crowds, even though they were at the shows.

“But, you know, we obviously start off my trip in Barcelona for Friday Night SmackDown. I will tell you all, Paige and I were very sad not to wrestle in front of you in Spain or actually be out there. You know, we had a backstage, which was still really good. Fatal Influence, those are some naughty girls. But, you know, we’re going to have our, you know, we get them now. So we got a little taste of their medicine. They’re going to get right back. But I will say Paige and I were so sad not to be out in the crowds.

And then the Friday, the SmackDown after, Paige and I thought we had a match and then we didn’t. And we were so sad. We’re like, can we please walk out to the crowd and cut a promo and do all that, which actually we originally were supposed to be out in the crowd and do this thing out in the arena. And last minute it got switched. We were so bummed. I was like, how is it that I’m in Europe and I did not once walk out to any of those fabulous high-energy crowds?”
