Roman Reigns will be back on Smackdown next week while two title matches have been announced as well.

For the first time since Survivor Series on November 26th when The Bloodline won the Men’s WarGames match, the “Tribal Chief” Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will be back on WWE TV. Reigns has been announced for the Friday, December 16th edition of Smackdown in Chicago. Reigns will join The Bloodline members on the show including The Usos, who had two successful Tag Team Title defenses in the past week, Solo Sikoa and the “Honorary Uce” Sami Zayn.

During a backstage segment on the December 9th Smackdown featuring The Bloodline, Jey Uso told Sami Zayn that maybe he should trim his beard and cut his hair. When Zayn asked why, Jey hinted that there might be something big happening when Reigns is back on Smackdown after being off for a few weeks.

Roman Reigns is also dealing with a ruptured eardrum injury, just like Drew McIntyre. It is not considered a serious injury and Reigns should be fine to wrestle again although it’s unknown if he will wrestle at all before the Royal Rumble on January 28th.

One of the two title matches will see GUNTHER defending the Intercontinental Title against the former champion Ricochet. GUNTHER has been the Intercontinental Champion since June while Ricochet earned the title shot by winning the Smackdown World Cup finals on December 2nd.

Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY will put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on the line as well when they defend the gold against Liv Morgan and Tegan Nox, who beat Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler on this week’s Smackdown after a distraction by Raquel Rodriguez.

A triple threat tag team match was also announced for the next Smackdown: Hit Row vs. Legado Del Fantasma vs. The Viking Raiders.

The December 16th Smackdown taping in Chicago will see WWE tape two weeks of shows with one of them airing on December 16th and the other episode will air on Friday, December 23rd. That’s because WWE has no shows scheduled from December 20th to Christmas Day on December 25th.
