Recent Presumed WWE Signing No Longer With The Company

It appeared as though WWE was interested in signing a top free agent, but a “hiring freeze” due to a sale has put a stop to that.

In January 2023, Vince McMahon returned to World Wrestling Entertainment as the Executive Chairman and made it clear that he wanted to sell the company if he could find the right deal. The sale of WWE became official on the Monday after WrestleMania when Endeavor acquired WWE leading to a $21 billion deal to merge WWE and UFC into one powerful sports organization.

Due to the expectation of the sale, there has been something of a “hiring freeze” by World Wrestling Entertainment.

When Triple H took over as the Head of Creative and Talent Relations in July 2022 after Vince McMahon “retired” and John Laurinaitis was fired, several superstars returned to the company. Names like Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, Karrion Kross with Scarlett, Bronson Reed, Hit Row (Top Dolla, Ashante “Thee” Adonis & B-Fab), Mia Yim, Chelsea Green and others came back to the company that fired them when Vince was calling the shots.

To start 2023, World Wrestling Entertainment has not signed free agents that are established wrestlers. That has led to Jay White going to AEW, Nick Aldis signing with Impact Wrestling, Trinity (formerly Naomi) going to Impact Wrestling and others as well. It has since been reported that WWE is still talking to talents despite the hiring freeze and when the Endeavor sale becomes official, perhaps by the end of the year, then they will likely sign more talents.

There have been rumors going back to February about WWE signing former NWA star Colby Corino to a contract with Colby expected to report to the Performance Centre. However, an update on the situation reveals that Colby has not actually signed the deal.

It has been reported by Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net Colby had yet to officially sign a contract. Colby was offered a deal, both sides agreed to it and then shortly after WWE was sold to Endeavor in early April, everything stopped in terms of hiring talent.

What all of this means is that Colby Corino is a free agent for now.

Colby Corino’s father Steve Corino is a former wrestler that works for the WWE NXT brand as a coach for over six years.
