Opening Match Announced For NXT Great American Bash
The opening match has been announced for WWE’s NXT Great American Bash event with a championship on the line.
While the WWE Universe anticipates SummerSlam taking place next Saturday in Detroit, the rising young stars of NXT have a big show tonight from Cedar Park, Texas.
The NXT Great American Bash takes place with seven announced matches including an eight-person match on the Kickoff Show.
Having a match on the Kickoff Show isn’t something that WWE does during every Premium Live Event, but for NXT wrestlers it’s a way to perform in front of a bigger crowd to get more experience. The Kickoff Show match at the Great American Bash will see Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Valentina Feroz & Yulisa León team up against The Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) in a unique matchup.
In addition to that, WWE has also announced that the opening match during the main show will see the Gallus boys (Wolfgang & Mark Coffey) defending the NXT Tag Team Titles against their rivals, Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. It’s a match that could certainly have a title change.

That match was set up because Stacks earned a title shot when he beat Joe Coffey in a singles match that also meant Tony D was “free” from prison in a storyline that lasted over two months.
What Else Is Happening at NXT’s Great American Bash?
In the likely main event on the show, NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes will look to continue his nearly three-month reign as champion when he defends the championship against Ilja Dragunov. Tiffany Stratton will put the NXT Women’s Title on the line against Thea Hail in a Submission Match.
There will also be an NXT North American Title match with “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio defending that championship against the former champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in what should be an exciting triple threat match.
The two other matches will see Gable Steveson make his WWE in-ring debut against Baron Corbin, who wants to humiliate the rookie. Finally, the rivalry between Roxanne Perez and Blair Davenport will be settled in a Weapons Wild Match following months of issues between the two women.
